The Optimal Laundry Guide

Guide - How do I wash my shirt?

My opinion is that you wash your shirts too often. I myself included. By that I mean that you do not always have to wash the shirt after every time you use it. If the shirt does not have a stain, and you have not sweated extra much, hang it up, ventilate if possible and iron or steam iron the shirt before the next use. In this way, you significantly increase the life of the shirt. Today, many people "wash(destroy)" their shirts. Below are some tips on how to wash your shirt in the best way:

General washing instructions

When washing your shirts, use a fine detergent, select the shirt program on the washing machine if available, otherwise choose delicate wash 40 degrees and, this is important, no or as low a speed as possible on the spin. Take out the shirt, hang it on a hanger, snap the buttons and let it drip dry. Iron the shirt before it is completely dry (see ironing tips) Wash light colors and dark colors separately.

Historical washing advices

Torsten Löwander worked at Stenströms for over 50 years and when he left in the 1990s, he had had time to share lots of tips and knowledge that he had accumulated during his time at Stenströms since the 1940s. A tip when it comes to washing shirts was that when a dark stripe appears in the collar, they can be difficult to get rid of in the washing machine. Torsten told me that if you put a string of degreasing detergent (type YES) and rub it in a bit and wait 15 minutes before putting it in the washing machine for washing, the stripe will disappear.

Bjorns advice!

I love shirts and almost always wear shirts, on the golf course, on the ski slope and for example on the beach. And right on the beach, a problem can arise when you have to put on your linen shirt to go shopping, have lunch or simply go home. The problem is called SUN CREAM. Some sunscreens give permanent stains on the shirt that are almost impossible to get rid of, so be very careful when choosing sunscreen and read the packaging so that you choose the right sunscreen. The sunscreen must not be waterproof and lubricate you when you are damp.
